One more time....

just because some people claiming benefits find the money to fund a drug habit

it does not necessarily mean they are doing so with the benefits money

and it certainly isn't evidence that benefits are too generous

if it was, T3 you could reduce jsa to 50 pence a week, and if some people still manage somehow to buy drugs (as some would), argue that 50 pence a week is 'too generous'.
TTT, liking the idea of the DWP paying Utilities direct - when there's not enough money, who do they cut off - them or me?
Question Author
same rules as now, they get benefits just no cash.
your opinions might be better received if you didn't call people 'scum'. Its very unpleasant.
This administration in their 'we haven't really thought this through' way, have done the exact opposite.

Housing Benefits will now go to the Claimants instead of direct to Landlords.

Many claimants have said they don't want and can't handle the responsibility. Some will indeed spend it on drugs.

Arrears are expected to rocket.
Using words like 'scum' says more about the person using the keyboard than those they are referring to - quite nauseating in fact.

"your opinions might be better received if you didn't call people 'scum'. Its very unpleasant. " - ok what do you call people who live off the endevor of others, in nature they are called parasites. Perhaps that's a better name.
Or Leeches.
T3

YOUR definition also includes;

disabled people
sick people
most pensioners
and those found to be 'redundant'
Question Author
where did I say that zeuhl? The clue is in the prefix "work shy" - ie those that live off the state not contributing for no other reason than they are work shy. Those that cannot contribute like the disabled/sick are accepted. Pensioners are mostly not on benefits in the normal sense they are on state pensions that they have paid NI for, not sure why they are even in the "benefits" arena. Those that are redundant, fair enough but get a job asap don't spend years scrounging because you don't want to do a job that isn't exactly what you want.
/The clue is in the prefix "work shy"/

Your definition didn't have a prefix.

//what do you call people who live off the endevor of others//

So you are including the sick and disabled in your rather thoughtless generalisation..

And apart from the fact that any money state pensioners 'paid in' is long gone and they are living off the current workforce, most never paid in enough for a financially viable pension by 2014 standards.
By TTT:
//ok so what is the work shy scum budget then Zeuhl? //

Seems to have the prefic workshy before scum.

Need a visit to specsavers to update the rose tinted specs then Zeuhl ?
rose tinted: to view in an excessively optimistic light

No sorry ymb - can't see anything especially optimistic in any of my posts

I'm not sure whether you are again revealing your sketchy comprehension of the English language or your shaky grasp of logical thought.

Either way, neither condition is conducive to rational and intelligent debate.

Why don't you try again after you've had a lie down?

:-)

Cheers jordy

Zeuhl: Yes I said "the endevor of others" but you know that overall we have been talking about the workshy. Not sure why you are so desparate to deliberately mis understand. Must I flesh out everything to avoid pedantry?
Not me who needs a lie down, I'm not desperately trying to defend the out of control benefits culture.

You seem to have the air of someone defending their own position.
