You couldn't make it up if you tried. A famous Tory lady once declared that
"the NHS is safe in our hands"...well not this Tory perhaps.

I can't see that it's any different to believing in, say, Christianity or Islam. Why is it that we're allowed to mock some totally irrational beliefs (such as those of this MP or of David Icke ) but expected to 'respect' other ones?

Mikey, //You couldn't make it up if you tried.//
You did.
Just out of curiosity, why do you make it up as you go along - especially if it's something relating to Conservatives? It's almost as if you think other people can't read.
This man might have a point. I imagine people who believe this stuff are cheered up by a positive horoscope. Could save the NHS a fortune in anti-depressants!

hmmm, looking at a few, you might well be right.
if you are feeling somewhat sluggish, there is a cosmic reason beyond Jupiter making a caustic, 135-degree tie with wounded-healer and maverick comet-like body Chiron (12:42AM). Not only is the Moon in its home sign of Cancer, at the start of today, void-of-course since yesterday morning, but the dark-of-the-moon cycle -- mentioned in depth on Friday -- is even more potent until the New Moon occurs at 3:43PM (energizing 4 degrees of Leo). The dark-of-the-moon time-period, also known as the Balsamic Moon Phase, always occurs as the extremely waning lunar orb, now not even revealing a crescent of reflected sunlight, seeks out a union with the Sun in order to be refueled and offer earthlings cosmic nurturance over the next 29.5 day solar-lunar time-span. Even during the mysterious, shady aura of the dark-of-the-moon cycle, you may start receiving some futuristic pep and vigor -- coming from the Moon leaving void status and entering Leo (7:56AM) as well as the monthly Moon-Jupiter conjunction (12:35PM)

Chris, //Why is it that we're allowed to mock some totally irrational beliefs (such as those of this MP or of David Icke ) but expected to 'respect' other ones? //
It all depends on whether or not an imaginary God is a major player in an irrational belief. If he is, we have to pretend it's rational. ;o)

This man doesn't have a point at all Naomi and I find it strange that I should have to make this clear to you, as you have spent, with me, the last 24 hours ridiculing religion because its a belief in the "supernatural"
Astrology is pure hokum and nothing but hokum. It has no basis in science whatsoever...none at all.
Here is some more Tredinnick newspaper clippings, and I have included some Tory newspapers, for a balanced view ::

My point in posting this was to expose him a wassock in general. I would have done the same if he had been a Labour MP. He quite clearly thinks that by incorporating this quackery into our health system, it would save the country a fortune. He is completely potty.

If you think that's what I've been doing you've not understood my posts - and you don't have to make anything clear to me. The fact is, he doesn't suggest offering people astrology on the NHS, as you claim.

He clearly thinks it a good idea Naomi. He is the Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Integrated Healthcare (previously Integrated and Complementary Healthcare). I am uneasy with an elected person chairing a Committee that has every appearance of being this potty. He will be advocating Homeopathy next !
I am going to put you on the spot...if believing in a supernatural God is irrational, then why doesn't Astrology come into the same category ?
I am still waiting on someone to support Astrology ? Is Russell Grant on here today ? Perhaps Doris Stokes could enlighten us with some info from the grave...after all she had no difficulty in doing so when she was alive !

Reminds me a story Danny, that I re-told on AB only a few days ago.
Many years ago, the Astrologer working for The Sun newspaper was getting too many negative letters, so the Editor at the time, Larry Lamb decided to sack her by letter. The letter started " as you probably already know"
Class act !
Another thing about fortune telling that has puzzled me...why have there been no Astrologer Lottery Winners ? Perhaps there have been, of course and they aren't letting on. Also, now that most of us use tea-bags, round or pyramid, to make tea, what happened to all those tea leaf readings ?
