Why would you move to another country and then try and effect our own from abroad?

Well we can send them all back if they get what they want.
What makes me laugh is that an English person living in Scotland has a say, but a Scot living in England doesn't.
I hope they go back to Scotland if the yes vote is taken, and see how they like the new Government. No EU, No English support from Westminster and No pound sterling,
The ones in England are the most vocal, they never tire of telling me how great Scotland is.
I worked in Scotland for a while (loved it), but a guy in a pub had a bit of a go about me taking a job from a Scot.

A bit rich really!

I worked in Aberdeen and never met any male who didn't want to to *** off back to England.

put a "y" in front of "our" above
Tonyav, I couldn't have put it better, priceless!
It isn't another country. Our country is the United Kingdom, not Scotland or England.
Would you be against English people who are abroad not being allowed in vote in Westminster elections? Same thing.
Can English ex pats vote in Westminster elections?
when I worked in Scotland I put 3 jocks out of work. ;o)
I don't get your point Gromit.

I am not against Scots being able to vote, but the fact is they can't unless they live in Scotland.

why does that "make you laugh" hopkirk, surely only the current Scottish electorate should vote regardless of origin, at least they live there! I suppose there is an agrument for the whole UK voting. Any other system would be a fiasco.
5 million Brits live abroad, and can vote in Westminster elections if they moved less than 15 years ago.
Question Author
Yes I am against ex pats abroad voting, if the place isn't good enough for them to live in they should not have a say in it's running. Before you start, yes armed forces and diplomats etc are a special case they are working where they are sent.
It depends. If the government can still make changes that affect you - e.g tax or pension rules, then you have a right to have a say in that.

But I agree with the general thrust of your question.

My in-laws moved from Italy in the 1950's and they still get sent Italian voting forms. Ridiculous really.
they may not live in Scotland, but I think they can have an opinion, after all every English person in AB land seems to have one . :)
// every English person in AB land seems to have one . :) //

Sorry Anne, we didn't know it wasn't allowed.
