I have just listened to Channel 4 TV news. Apparently all surviving illegal immigrants have applied for Asylum in this country. No surprise there then is there? It is claimed,by a Sikh spokesman, who lives in Southall, that all the illegal refugees have relatives living in Southall and had probably told them that Great Britain was a "welcoming and accomodating country". For that you can interpret as "Great Britain is a soft touch who will supply you with all you ask for paid for by the generous British taxpayers". It was also stated that Afghanistan had become more stabilised and thus a legitimate exit visa was more difficult to come by and that is why they chose the ILLEGAL path !!!
So in the words of ymb.Can you lentil crunching leftie hand wringing Islington set justify their illegal entry into this country ?
In the words of one of their own Sikhs living in Southall..(A) They came to Great Britain because they already have relatives here. (B) They were probably told of our generous handouts to those who are NOT entitled to in the first place. (C ) As Afghanistan is becoming more stable it is more difficult to obtain a exit visa as they are not endangered and fleeing for their lives as persecuted people. It rather shoots out the water the theory that they must be desperate to risk their lives to better themselves in this country IMO. If they were that desperate ,due to persecution in Afghanistan, they would of been very glad to seek asylum in the first European country who would grant them safety and refuge regardless of family ties in this country. Incidentally. I have also learnt that an ambulance call out costs the taxpayer £221 each. These illegals had a fleet of them at their disposal. They got their health checks at great cost to the NHS now do as the Canary Isles do. Put them on a boat straight back where they came from and let them feel grateful that they were not sent back in a sealed container. Forget costly immigration asylum processing and appeals. Just send them back where they come from. Other European states can do it and then so can we.

"I really hope that you never find yourselves in the position that you are so desperate that you bundle your family into a shipping container.." But they were not "so desperate". They were in Belgium, a member of the EU, a signatory to the ECHR and, when I last visited, a fairly agreeable place. Their desperation was not to escape oppression or torture - they'd...

Couldn't agree more retrocop. No doubt they will be allowed to settle in this country and sponge off the state.Plenty of other places they can go, try home, and they called Enoch Powell racist. Was he ***!
Ops shush don,t want to upset the bleeding hearts brigade or Ed Milliband
Is there no chance that they might work?

I mean, the last series of 'Benefits Street' is off the telly now, so perhaps they won't even find out what so many of our home grown layabouts do 'for a living'?
They're illegal immigrants, they can't work. They can drain the system dry but they can't work.

If they've applied for Asylum do we not have to support them while their there applications are processed?
We must be the Laughing Stock of Europe!
Wonder if any of the parents will face charges of endangering their children’s lives.
If I were to have placed my children into this situation I’m fairly sure a prosecution would take place after child protection services had finished hanging me from the nearest branch

Good point Noe- schitt. Sometimes sp1814 I wonder who the right on brigade would actually state who is here illegally to better themselves on the back of the the tax payer and agree they are nothing more than leeches and scroungers who are over burdening the infrastructure of this small Island. Surely the mayor of Calais made a point that might just ring true to the less liberal lentil crunchers that we attract welfare scrounging immigrants because of the generosity of our weasel mouthed gutless government who can't say eff off we are full and need no more parasites.
in fairness to the immigrants, I don't really blame them, I blame the system which allows them to enter and stay in the country.
"Is there no chance that they might work?"

Not much - not legitimately anyway. But even if they did that is not the point. Services and infrastructure in many parts of the UK (certainly the parts in which they are likely to settle) are at breaking point. We need fewer people, not more.

Unlike many of the others we know where this lot came from and they should be returned there forthwith.
I believe that paperless illegal immigrants with no asylum case who arrive on our shores are eventually returned to the last known port of call. In this case The Netherlands (not Afghansitan). Perhaps they want to reside in The Netherlands?

I have never encountered a bad Sikh. My first reaction is "welcome to GB".

Ann these are Illegal immigrants, our system is (or supposedly is) that we send them back. Taking risks to get here is a gamble they take if they are foolhardy enough. Blame the organised gangs who take their money and put them into containers. We don't want them, it is time the whole system of handouts to immigrants for whatever reason is closed down. I read today about an Afghani Sikh with many relatives in Birmingham and Leicester. He travelled to Italy on a tourist visa. He is now in Belgium waiting to get to England, he is worried now because stricter checks will be made on the container ships and lorries leaving Belgium. He is intent on getting to England, Only England will do because we have the best benefits system. I hope they all get deported back to where they came from.
So - if granted leave to stay, every single one of these people will be straight down the dole office?

Thanks. I honestly didn't know that about immigrants.

Outstanding.

Tell me - is that *all* immigrants?

If so, my mum and dad have real idiots all these years.

Ya live and learn eh?

Sorry for the sarcasm, but the moment I see the phrase 'right on brigade', it's kinda...'game over' in the world of reasoned debate.
retrocop.

Oh Lord...I didn't even read the end of the post.

'lentil crunchers'?!?

Ha ha...

Outstanding Sir.

Just...outstanding.

Only pulling your leg.

I can see that this is a serious topic and something you feel strongly about. It's something that needs to be debated, and you are very right to bring it up.
Were mum and dad illegal immigrants?
sp the people in the container were chancers, illegals who were hoping to get some money and a place to live..... for nothing. Any self respecting immigrant would come here by the proper route with papers and a skill with the intent of working and paying his way. Far too many are here via the back door and the system is not good enough to pick them all up. The Uk isn't up to speed and it's time they toughened up.

You'd be surprised at how many do not differentiate between illegal immigrant, asylum seeker and economic migrant.

But in answer to your question - no. They are here legally.

However me, my sister and brother are all very illegal.
Something that I think everyone needs to understand (and correct me if I'm wrong) is that the one thing that illegal immigrants can't actually do is ponce off the system.

Is it not true that the majority work 'under the radar', with being eligible for housing benefit, child benefits, tax credits etc?
Not sure you can be 'very' illegal but police are on their way so you an check with them. :P
