Some one who was born on the shores of the four main constituent parts of the UK or its islands or has taken UK citizenship.

I got the jury question wrong, but then gain I left the UK 40-odd years ago, so I'm in bit of a time warp.

Still, with 9 out of 10 I suppose they'd let me back in if I felt so inclined :-)

I'm not very up to date with the slang either - maybe a good thing?

I got 10, so I'm more British than aog. And I'm half Icelandic;-)
I wasn't born here,but managed 9 out of 10....guess I can stay.;-)
It really depends on whether you think "Britishness" is flimsy enough to depend on a test score. If you do, then probably yes.

Personally I care a great deal more about whether schools are equipping young people with life skills than general knowledge. Sure, it's nicer to live in a society where everyone is well-read. But I'm far more concerned about the failure of our schools to provide kids with basic life skills. You don't need to know who succeeded Queen Anne to get places. You do need a set of skills and an idea of what motivates you and makes you happy. Our schools need to fix that before they go fixing pub quiz aptitude.
Hawaii has the Union Jack on its flag, so an easy mistake to make.
I don't understand why knowing or not knowing things like the succession of kings and queens makes a person more British than another. How does that help someone manage in the Britain of today?

/// I have just achieved 10 out of 10 but it was hardly a difficult quiz was it ?
Even most foreigners could have achieved a healthy, if not 100% score. ///

Always a staunch supporter of the foreigner aren't you Mikey, must be the Labour in you.

Yes but I am more British (no English) because I was taught to tell the truth.
That's an appalling remark and slur, AOG.
You are more English because you were taught to tell the truth? Is it just me or does anyone else have a clue what that means?
No idea too, Corby, but it's the association with Pixie's mixed background that I find abhorrent.....
I'm considering a Yorkshireness test, obviously this would involve whippets, clogs, flat caps, coal mines, and Ilkley Moor............
Barnsley Burns and the clock there too, crafty.....
And prudency with dosh !.
sorry buns, not burns

As to the clock, What do you call one of Mrs O's pies on top of Barnsley town hall clock? Answer: 'something ta eight.'
// Or do they simply possess a better general knowledge, and if so why? //

um because someone who is twenty years older than a teenager will have had twenty more years to learn the basics
[bearing in mind that teenagers never listen]
I think they should have though to ask these 40>>>60 year olds if this country is in a mess, who caused it, how to get out of it, do we spend too much money looking after the people that are trying to get into this country without passports, where should this money be spent, also people coming into this country to settle and can not speak a word of the Language & expect the British Tax payer to foot the bill. Wait for it!
