UKIP 44 points lead over Tories and 51 points over Labour

Could it be a landslide win for UKIP in the Clacton by-election?

Yes, most definitely.

This will see the first ever UKIP MP returned to Parliament.

Yes and hopefully the first of many.
UKIP did not have a candidate in Clacton in 2010, so how can they measure a swing to them?

It is too early to predict the result of this bye election. Other than Carswell we do not know who the other candidates are.

We do not know what gaffes UKIP will make during the campaign.

We do not know how Carswell will fair under media scrutiny. He was the archeitect of Elected Police Commissioners for example which have been widely discreditted.

I will wait and see before making a prediction.

I hope so too.

There needs to be a clear choice for the British electorate. And UKIP gives them that. I would encourage those who believe in UKIP's to vote for them at the next General Election.

It would make politics more interesting. It might also mean that right wing voters could leave the main parties to promote a more centralist ideology - which for me personally, would be extremely attractive.

Looks as if they can depend on your vote then?
Can anyone tell me what the rate of income tax would be if UKIP won a general election?

But mikey swears by YouGov, to him they are the Oracle so it's a done deal because their polls never lie.

Isn't that right mikey?
AOG, SP? Any idea re income tax?
ZACS, there is no current manifesto and Farage said he had not read the last one but he described it as nonsense and drivel written by an idiot who had defected to the Tories.

No...see my previous post at 8:57am. I could not be more opposed to UKIP's policies.

Also, I would be embarrassed to admit that I'd voted for them to be perfectly honest...a lot of my friends have degrees so...
Corby, there is no detailed manifesto just a rather lurid website with a few vote grabbing headlines and no substance.
So, anybody at all know what the UKIP rate of income tax will be?
less than Labour's if that's any help, zacs.
No help whatsoever I'm afraid.
There's a wee bit here from the BBC site a few days ago, http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-28876122
I will await the outcome of the party's annual conference then. And a clear explanation of the overall effects. I just can't get my head around people voting for a party who can't even say what the income tax rate is.
They have. 40p max rate and take all low earners out of tax altogether. Sounds fare to me zac
But that doesn't give the standard rate.
Carswell achieved a whopping majority in the 2010 General Election, over Labour ::

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clacton_(UK_Parliament_constituency)

But UKIP did not stand in 2010. So if UKIP are so sure of winning the forthcoming by-election, why did they not field a candidate in 2010 ?

It seems obvious that if Carswell does win, its his own popularity that will tip the balance, not the popularity of UKIP in the constituency.
Zacs...its rather immaterial what UKIP's rate in income tax is surely ?

They may win in Clacton, but they are not going to win in May 2015, so any chance of putting any of their Manifesto promises into action is zero.
