Is it any wonder some of our children are not used to discipline with parents such as this?
Regardless of the excuses of only being told by text the day before term started, these parents were actually informed of the 'uniform' policy by letter twice last term, as well as informing the pupils during assembly.
However I thought the caption under this picture rather amusing.
We had a strict uniform and had to wear boaters and blazers on a Sunday to church. This school has chugged out over the years innovative female Artists,Scientists and avant-garde thinkers and doers, so I'm afraid knocks kvalidars blinkered opinion well on the head. Uniforms are important -they give pupils a sense of belonging, take away any 'fashion...
That's a bit insulting to say sheeple wouldn't stand up and be counted when the You know what hits the fan. Plenty of them must have volunteered when they were really needed during two world wars. They couldn't all have been mavericks.
//You are lucky that you and your family have the means of self support that enables you to stick to your opinions.//
No, we are not 'lucky' we all work very hard and my father pulled himself up with his bootstraps with no money at all and fresh out of prison. 'Luck' was certainly not present. Anyone, anyone at all can become self employed- it's a choice not to do so, just as it's a choice to work for someone else.
Yeah Bednobs- that's exactly what I'm going to say. NOT.
I think we are going to go over and over ground already covered so I'll leave you to it.
Not what I saw on the news, they were all congregating in the school grounds, waiting to be picked up, but why they couldn't walk (you know that out of date practice of putting one foot in front of the other) is quite another matter.
Fine kval, why don't you go into some schools and tell all the year 11s how they will never have to work for anyone when they leave school, absolutely everybody can be self-employed. Give them some ideas.
You realise if they did that there would be no doctors, nurses, vets, police, teachers, barristers even...
lol of course children are all extraordinary. What i meant was ordinarily, people go and work for other people.
you also seem to be saying that children who are forced to wear school uniform are now all sheep, and not extrordianry at all?
You don't have to be extraordinary to run a business - plenty of ordinary people run businesses - but no business can run without employees - and they are often truly extraordinary.
/// Okay but when the *** hits the fan do you want a herd of sheeple at your back or someone who'll stand up and be counted? I know which I'd prefer, and it's not the people who meekly run off at the first sign of trouble because that's what they have been indoctrinated to do. ///
No we don't want anyone to stand up alone we want a whole group of people who are prepared to don a uniform and fight as a whole unit, not some stand alone undisciplined person who takes no orders from the 'sheepies'.

This school has chugged out over the years innovative female Artists,Scientists and avant-garde thinkers and doers, so I'm afraid knocks kvalidars blinkered opinion well on the head. Uniforms are important -they give pupils a sense of belonging, take away any 'fashion police' type bullying and any pupil absconding from school, or causing trouble is easily recognized in the town centre or on a bus. Good leather shoes are important for growing feet , children can wear their trainers at home.
Anyway. I'm all for school uniforms but I still wish they'd make them less formal. Who thought it would be a good idea for children/teenagers to wear white shirts. They are a nightmare to keep clean.
He has indeed Ummm- he owns who he is and he owns who he was, so I know he won't mind it being discussed.
I'll come back to answer AOG's point as it's so politely put although I was going to leave this thread alone as it was starting to get more than a little personal.
My father was in prison for GBH and once he left prison he came to England from Ireland and started initially by washing windows and cars, moved up to dealing in cars and online businesses and finally to property. Before he was in prison he worked for other people as far as I am aware afterwards he worked for himself.
I'd like to clarify that clearly self employment isn't for everyone but it is possible for everyone should they choose it. I see no reason we cant all hold our own opinions on this subject without outrage.
