The Prime Minister strongly indicates he is preparing to authorise military air strikes against Isil terrorists in Iraq and Syria as a second British hostage was named as Alan Henning.

If we want to wait a few years while hostages die and attrocities ramp up, then fine.

The difference is, Bin Laden and Hussain were figureheads, and even their disposal did not halt the spread of terrorism and death - and neither will the killing of the leaders of this bunch of lunatics - assuming they can be identified and located.

These organsations are Hydras - cut one head off (apologies for the analogy but it aposite) and two more grown to replace it.

Like I said - plaiting fog comes to mind.

Me too - doing nothing.
I am not sure that anybody has the golden bullet here Andy, but sitting around while these bloodthirsty barbarians run amok doesn't seem to be working very well at the moment. In fact, its doesn't seem to working at all.

Imagine what the Balkans would look like now if we all sat on our hands in 1991. You can never appease a terrorist, because he will just turn and bite you on the behind if you do.

Nobody is saying that the military option is going to be easy but nothing else is effective.

A silver bullet would be of more use. These people are sub-human.
Didn't the Lone Ranger use silver bullets ?

Good for getting rid of werewolves apparently, although we might need quite a few of them in the Middle East.
