Can anyone tell me how bombing Islamic State fanatics in northern Iraq will make Britain safer from attacks?
To me this will only inflame the issue.
/// The Defence Secretary Mr Fallon told the Spectator magazine: 'We've had attacks on the streets of London, on our transport system, at Glasgow Airport, the murder of Lee Rigby – how much more evidence do you need that this is a very clear and dangerous threat to our way of life and to all the democracies of the West.
'This is a new Battle of Britain. ///
Doesn't he realise that we fought the Battle of Britain over the sky's of Southern England, not over some distant land?

They will fight us in our tube trains, our shopping malls and on our high streets, from behind the veil of a Burka or via a suicide bomber; as has already been the case.
I do not want British boots on the ground any more than anyone else, nor do I want to see human collateral, but ISIS are beheading people in their conquered land (particularity after Friday prayers) so that collateral will not be as great as the linberal left will have you believe.

Doing nothing is not an option .
Bombing will not cure the problem .
So long as there are those who wish to impose their idea of how we should exist , then the problem will not be resolved .
Solution ? - i have not got any idea - we can only hope that the leaders we vote for will do their utmost to keep us relatively 'safe '
I wonder if we had a time machine , what sort of world we would encounter travelling to the future , in say one hundred years time

There is no solution to the problem of fanatical fascist death cults. They will always be with us in one form or another like vermin, but with different names and different justifications.
All you can do is contain them when you get an outbreak, and that always involves using force. Appeasement never works, neither does doing nothing.

The West, that predominantly caused these problems, has ALL the tools it needs to effectively solve most of the problems
As ludwig stated, containment is the key element:
first diplomatic measures that include Syria and Iran, in tandem with direct military intervention to eradicate as much of ISIS *and* the other crazies as possible, a diplomatic solution between Turkey and the Kurds, and the threat of withdrawal of American aid - both military and financial- to many culprits around that area.
Saudi and the Gulf States must be brought to heel and the threat of extremely harsh sanctions made clear, and an occupying military force must remain in Afghanistan and Iraq for the foreseeable future.
All this is possible, but will never be done

It's a very complex situation which few, if anyone fully comprehends, and that includes the terrorists themselves, many of whom are British anyway. Arming the Kurds seems simple enough, but where will that end if they prevail and start on Turkey?
The Kurdish people are one of the oldest civilizations in the middle east and after its carve-up by Europeans they were left scandalously without a land.
This battle is without end, and Britain should keep out of it.
