Oh so this is why Labour are so keen on multiculturalism?
/// Mr Vaz also risked controversy by joking that many of the migrants trapped in Calais may be able to join the party next year. ///
Oh so that's what we can look forward to if Labour gets back in, is it?
/// He said: ‘We’ve got a raffle tonight. The first prize is a return ticket to Paris by Eurostar. ///
And if one doesn't win the raffle, there's always expenses to fall back on.
/// ‘You could stop at Calais on the way and have a look at all those lovely people who will be at diversity night next year.’ ///
Can wait, where can one get a ticket from?

// ...more tax, that is the labour party. //
The Tax Payers Alliance...
// the Coalition Government has raised taxes more than twice as often as it has cut them. In the first analysis of its kind, this Government is shown to have implemented or planned 299 separate tax rises but only 119 separate tax cuts. This means that the Coalition has been responsible for 180 more tax rises than tax cuts since it came to power. //
Of course the biggest was the increase in VAT to 20%.

Although I dont vote Tory (So I am not sure why you are quoting Tory policy to me) as I am sure you are very aware their hands are tied by Mr Clegg who, for some strange reason, welds more power than he should.
Labour are promising even more though on top of the Tories, so my comment still stands.
I dont know TTT, but if they did drop it I am sure Red Ed's Union mates will have it reinstated now they are in control.

gromit your use of statistics is disingenuous - the issue is has overall tax increased or decreased, not whether things have been snipped or introduced.
The Coalition has had to - Period! I remind you of that highly irresponsible statement of Liam Byrne about the cupboard being bare and how Labour had spent it all. That will come back to haunt them, I am sure, never mind the Millipede forgetting two major tranches of his speech yesterday, the numpty.

It has increased under the coalition. The net amount collected from all taxes has
risen every year under the life of this parliament. It is silly tp pretend we are paying less tax now than under Labour, because it simply isn't true.
2009-10 £485.7 billion net taxes collected by the Government
2010-11 £522.4 billion net taxes collected by the Government
2011-12 £542.9 billion net taxes collected by the Government
2012-13 £550.6 billion net taxes collected by the Government
