We should order a news blackout, get anything we have out and let them get on with it. The whole sorry *** h0le is not worth one more drop of bl00d, it's not worth even putting on the news, the last thing we should do is send troops there, I don't care!

Except that it's never going to stay "over there". On the assumption that IS wins the various conflicts it's being involved in, I doubt they'll be content to stop with Iraq and Syria. And then it will become our problem again, only that we're fighting a much larger entity that will be even harder to beat.
And I agree with you.
That was to TTT.
Somehow I'd guessed that.
Well done !
Yes

we created Iraq

we hived off Kuwait for our pals

and then we fundamentally destabilised the whole region by joining in the american invasion (even though most people in uk seemed to realise how stupid it was)

let's stop while we're behind - we've done enough damage and don't have the resources to fix it now
I thought the much-vilified Blair had gone, so it must be dave that is sending our troops into Iraq this time ! Who would have thought it...a Tory PM sending our brave lads into war again.
Also agree, we should keep well out of the place, they should train themselves, who ever trained us?
Your support for a extreme Islamic state is noted.

And when they take all their oil producing neighbours will you be telling us to get on our bikes?
Gromit...who was your last post aimed at ?
The OP and those that agree with him.
Thought so...just wanted to check.
Gromit - "Your support for a extreme Islamic state is noted.

Stating a lack of support for one side in a conflict is not the same as offering tacit support to the other.

I'm not supporting anyone gromit, I don't give a rats ar5se what bunch of islamic nutters run it. If we need oil we'll can buy it, even off them if necessary. No need to control it, I don't care who runs the corner shop, when I need a bottle of milk I'll buy one, I don't have to control the place. You can't polish a turd gromit.
/// Gromit...who was your last post aimed at ? ///

All those who disagree with Gromit.
I'm with Jim.... these things never stay local, as IS strengthens their outlook and ambitions get stronger. They need quashed now

I have to agree.

The successive governments have told us that an Islamic threat from abroad is very real, and needs our militatry intervention abroad to prevent it.

The first I remain unconvinced of - the government won;t tell the public, obviously, although if I were the parent of a soldier, and especially a deceased soldier from the conflicts, I would want a sight mre information than the government thinks we can be trusted with.

The second I remain totally convinced of - that all our intervention has made our streets not one iota safer, merely hardened the attitudes of extremists that we are a bunch of invading war-mongers who push in where we don't belong.

Why would they think otherwise - we are hell-bent on proving it, every chance we get!
These IS thugs need to be stopped. They have killed 10,000's of innocent people, in horrific ways. One of their favourite methods is to cut the heads off woman and small children. In a world where barbarity is everywhere, IS has reached a new low in the last few months. If they are not stopped now, where else are they going to go ? Pretty much anywhere they like it would seem.

They are not going to go away if we ignore them and stick our heads in the sand. The free world has to do what it takes to defeat them. Appeasement never works...it didn't in the past and its not going to in the future.
AOG,,,we are allowed to disagree with you and anybody else, if we want to. When you are right, I agree with you, as I have done in the past. But when you are wrong, I reserve the right to do the opposite. Stop being paranoid just because somebody questions your stance on issues.

when they are marching up the Champs Elysees, I'll take an interest. The problem is that even if we do take action now, it won't be a proper job, it'll be a half arsed attempt as usual with one arm behind our backs to appease the lefties our troops will dies and nothing will change. If we are going to do it we need at least 2million men on the ground from the civilised world, scouring every inch executing this vermin. We know that won't happen so why bother? just let them have their "state" and then barracade the whole place and don't let them out or anything in.
