I've only seen the ad once and no, I don't find it offensive. It was done with full agreement and help and co-operation of the British Legion
nope.
I would rather have reasonably priced food in Sainsbury's than them spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on an elaborate unnecessary advert like this. Although I'm not 'offended' I think its in very bad taste.
do you?
No, me neither.
my do you? was to aog
No. The profits from the sales of that chocolate bar are going to the Royal British Legion. Sainsbury's worked with them in the making of the ad, and if they're happy, so am I
I don't find it in the least bit offensive and will say no more than I already have on the subject.

Almost all advertising (and i've worked in the industry for over 30 years) is 'cynical' in that its prime purpose is to manipulate the audience's beliefs and influence its behaviour, for a profit.

The story of Christmas 1914 is widely known and as such belongs to all of us; it seems to me the ad treats the events with respect and truthfulness and as a metaphor for the modern Christmas works well.

Offensive, no I don't think so, but not done in the best possible taste imo, maybe a bit cynical!
Not offensive at all.
Utter Horlicks. For those complaining, pop along to said supermarket and see if you can get yourself a life.
In the past, advertisers haven't always treated wartime events with quite so much respect...

I sometimes think folk can't find enough to be offended about. But I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if it doesn't agree with mine.
Offensive? Of course not.

However, having the attention span of a gnat and an aversion to both Christmas and wartime, I have not watched it all the way through... and will not.
It's depicting 'The Bosche' as decent fellows. I'm not sure.

Get your tin hat out of store Sandy, I think you might need it.
AOG - "... but as always the Mail has published some great photos."

They need great photos to counterbalance the horrendous vocabulary of their sub-editors!

Every feature is 'heartrendingly tragic ...' or 'will make you weep ...' or is 'searingly honest ...'

Their sense of hyperbole is the size of Jupiter!

Maybe if their features occasionally ived up to their tearful headlines (they rarely do!) they could develop a sense of proportion.

Considering they are often trailing the thoughts of people like Sarah Vine, they are well out of synch!

'Sarah Vine - are you thinking what she's thinking/'

I hope not, otherwise I will have become such a reprehensible human being that I will have to do away with myself in the next two minutes!!!
I think it's very moving, I like it.
