Has there ever been a member of cabinet that has been a working class man (or woman)?
Why are they (or seem to be) quiet wealthy in there own right?
Labour say they are working class but ive never known a Labour minister to holiday at Butlins or, in the modern world, have the need to use a food bank.
What does Milliband know about the average man in the street?

How would we know what they experienced before they were famous. I doubt any cabinet minister has those problems after they become a minister.

If we reduce MPs pay as some would like we'd probably only get those who with money who choose to do the job as a hobby
Harold Wilson once claimed to have gone to school with no boots, to which the reply came (can't remember if it was MacMillan or Home), "If Mr Wilson went to school with no boots it was merely because he was too big for them".
Gordon Broon, son of a CofScotland minister.

Just because they were successful, usually starting at school, is nothing to sneer at, rather I would say applaud. Brown has a PhD and was rector of Edinburgh Uni as well as their court convenor.
Harolds dad knew what it was like to be out of work.

Thats ok then! They became 'famous' and ruled over the rest of us then. ok.
Because most of them worked bl--dy hard to get where they are, with a set of beliefs and values, very few are dropped into fame as politicians....how many recent sons and daughters can you name that have made it through to cabinet level? Say since the end of WW2?

Will have to check out which ones are in the cabinet and are strugging to survive. Thanks,
I am not sure what your point is, nailit. Are you suggesting cabinet ministers should get minimum wage or be forced to sleep rough so they can see how some people live?
