I haven't sided with the police or the deceased, the information is just not clear enough.
The trouble with the vast majority of ABers is that they have made up their minds even before they have read anything about a case. A headline is enough for most.

I think it's all too easy for us to sit here dunking our collective Hob Nobs into our cups of tea, passing judgement.
I wonder what life is actually like over there? Whilst we may write a sarcastic missive to The Independent when we are issued with a contested parking fine, I doubt my life experiences are comparable to those in Hamilton.
In fact - the people of Hamilton might look to us and ask themselves, "What on Earh do those middle class suburban kids think they're doing going on the rampage through London during the G4 summit??? Don't they know that they have it easy living in mummy and daddy's £1.8million detached house in Epsom?"

I'm sure that innocent non-racost white policemen (and women) of Hamilton feel as equally aggrieved as innocent black Hamilton residents do when people make sweeping statements about them.
I wouldn't want someone who took to looting and rioting as a form of protest living next door to me, but I have the utmost respect for those who organise and/or peaceful protests.
I can't see anything wrong in that.
It's the 'or whatever' that would need defining (in your example).

/// When you take race out of the equation, or rather the perception of racism, then you would get no protests (see police forces in the West Indies, Africa etc). ///

And you also stand Africa up for admiration.

And it also doesn't just happen in the USA, remember the horrific Tottenham riots and looting?
Back in this country it seems that until the Black communities get their own law enforcement officers they won't be happy.
Or there may become a time when the authorities will be too scared to enforce the law in case they trigger off such violence.
