Dispatches The Other Day....

Just watched the C4 program about the immigrants in Calais. I have 2 points, that bloke that admitted smuggling people in his car, is he being prosecuted? and the immigrant in the program has been given leave to remain for 5 years, why? Surely he was smuggled in illegally. Had a look round and I cannot find anything on this. Anyone know the details?

If it that easy to get to film them and join into conversation with these smugglers, why aren't the security services doing the same?
Why did Channel 4 blank out the vehicles number plate?
why was 'Sammy' who managed to smuggle himself into England, granted the 5 years to remain here?

TTT, we did this during your sojourn in the wilderness.
but I said then, the general population looks at these people and thinks "illegal, no right to be here".
on the other hand, the metropolitan elite that constitute her majesty's government and her majesty's opposition and think "cheap nanny. cheap domestics. cheap valeting for my car".

I have just arrived home after a few days ..Sur le continent. As we came back through Calais via the tunnel, we saw a group of would be immigrants hanging around behind Toys 'r Us depot. The main problem seems to be a the ferry terminal. Having said that, when we got of the Shuttle in Kent, there were several police cars waiting and a vehicle(a car) had been stopped and two men got out of the boot of the car. I don't know if the driver was aware or what happened to the two illegal immigrants. As they had reached the UK, what would then happen to them? They were here illegally after all.
......then they are given train tickets to East Croydon and told to report here

//that bloke that admitted smuggling people in his car, is he being prosecuted?//
no thank God. Since the disastrous terrorist trials in the 70s ( you know the ones where they convicted people who could show they didnt do it ) convictions are not based on confession only. There should be 'something else' - a rule of law in Scotland but not here
