BBC News - UKIP suspends general secretary Roger Bird http://bbc.in/1w65Y3i
I thought it was standard practice in any reputable organisation that if "allegations of impropriety" are made against a person then that person is suspended from duty whilst the allegations are investigated. Seems like another non-story trying to smear UKIP as a whole.
Probably caused by immigrants I expect !
But of course! Have you seen all those foreigners who write for the Grauniad?
Are you surprised, after all they recently represent the worst excesses of the Tories>
This is to do with 'fixing' the selection of candidates for 'Winnable' seats in the next election. Long time party members have been forced out in favour of newcomers who fit the political agenda .
In that case Eddie, what makes UKIP different from Lib/Lab/Con? They all do that.
UKIP's great boast is that they are different from the 'main parties'
This of course is nonsense, although evidence would suggest that they are different in the sense that they are worse ...
^^ yes they all do it. But in this case , there were a lot of long time party members who had been promised that they would be candidates once UKIP got to the point where there was a real chance of wining a few seats. Now it has got to that stage they have found they are dumped and are not happy.
they've obviously decided that renegade Tories are a better bet than their own long-time members. As Blackadder says, they're behaving more like the old-time parties than a radical alteranative. But then again, maybe they want more old-time Tory voters.
Just so I'm clear on this one, the guy who sorts the candidates out for UKIP has been suspsended for doing exactly what other parties do and have done for decades, is that correct?

So glad I checked.

Yawn, another major non-story concerning UKIP.
The other parties really must try harder, their desperation is now palpable.
Quite correct, Chill. You only have to look at the 2010 election and see how Labour parachuted Harriet Harperson's husband, Jack Dromey and TV historian Tristram Hunt into safe seats in the west Midlands just two weeks before the election.
I think there may be a bit more to it than 'parachuting' candidates in by the look of it, if the front page of the Times is to be believed. Looks like there were 'strings attached' to the parachuting of at least one female and I'm not talking about 'parachute strings'
And who's been drafted in as a replacement for the lady who's quit in disgust: Neil Hamilton. Discredited ex-Tory MP replaces Female Labour defectee : highly symbolic I'd say.
highly symbolic I'd say

As of course is the name "Roger Bird".
Lol

The interesting thing about the sexual harassment story is that the woman is question is a LABOUR defector who left her party because of alleged sexism in her CLP
The idea that she would find UKIP a haven of political correctness and fair treatment for the sexes seems mind bogglingly naive
It has been alleged a single man has tried it on with a single woman. Oh my gawd - how dare he try such an outrageous thing.

To suggest this equates to pouring is nonsense; at best its a light drizzle.

Moreover, it appears the single woman has sent the single man many texts/emails which, if they are true (have no reason to believe they are not), are highly suggestive that the single woman was pursuing the single man.

It has also been reported that the 'relationship' commenced after the lady had already been selected.

IF the texts and emails are true and/or IF she had already been selected, then I'd suggest this story speaks more about her than him.
