the Americans seem to be working their way towards royal dynasties, in politics as in showbiz. In years to come the Clintons and the Bushes will be like York and Lancaster. You've already chosen which side you'll be going into battle for.

If the average American spent much time around this couple or anyother Royal representative I'm sure the attention given would gradually diminish.

Having said that, I would offer that just the self-assurance and attractiveness of this young couple is refreshing. Many here can remember the coronation of Elizabeth and she displayed the same sonsitent qualities.

I also think there's a quiet, unspoken longing for the history involved as well as a recognition of the enduring relationship going back for centuries... never mind that dust-up that ended with Cornwallis on October 19, 1781 at Yorktown... We don't have and never will have that relationship with say France, with whom we were briefly (thank you Lord!) allied in the same dust-up referenced. Only Mother England, for better or worse...

One's gotta like the softly spoken accents as well...

Americans are obsessed with our Royal family and anyone connected to them, Paul Burrell is a typical example, he was a slimey little toad who nobody liked over here yet they loved him over there because of his royal connection
