Turks are mostly Muslim, their country is emphatically not, thanks to Ataturk. The military have been known to step in if they think religious leaders are getting too much power.

The Wilkepedia link you provided goes on to say that " the vast majority of the population are Muslim" and another topic below this thread states that , maybe , 90% are muslim so I think it would be correct to say Turkey is a Muslim country. Our local Turkish (yes they are already here in the UK) supermarket does not sell pork,alcohol and the Turkish female staff wear Nihads so I assume they are not R.C.

Interesting link jno, foreign workers being paid more than the going rate for the UK. Fairly rare I'd suspect. Mind you, if industry picked up their responsibility to train sufficient home grown individuals for the trades they need, instead of expecting them to just be there to hire, they'd not need to claim they "have" to overpay foreign workers to do the job instead.

And we have now got UK Muslims going off to fight in Syria and other countries, Muslims cutting the head off a soldier, and now we have threats against the police.
And these are the terrorist activities, let alone all the other problems of Muslims wanting to set up a Muslim "state" in this country, Imams, Sharia law etc etc
I believe letting in so many Muslims has been one of the biggest mistakes this country has made in the last 20 years and we will live to regret it.
The last thing we need is a basically Muslim country joining the EU.
ps. If you go back into history Christians and Muslims have never got on: the Crusades, us fighting in Afghanistan in the last century.
In fact in the first world war the Germans tried to get Muslim countries rise up against the UK so we would have to go an fight out of Europe to protect our Empire and have less soldiers in Europe to fight against them.
Sadly we are heading for a religious civil war in this country in the future, and we have already seen some of the fighting between different group on the streets already.

Argument 1 is irrelevant. For example the Eurovision song contest allows in countries from outside Europe. What’s in a name. It was described as a trading block, and is obviously an attempt to be a union. I don’t think the name defines much.
Argument 2 is something that needs to be put right and is a known stumbling block for now.
Argument 3 is laughable given the other poorer countries that have already been let in to be funded by the better off ones.
Argument 4 needs to be proven even if considered a reason. I think the drive toward more secular style would have occurred anyway as the benefits are clear.
