Answer sing it in Welsh, simples ( the English will never know )
You're right there, Whiskey. Non-Welsh speakers listening to 'Sospan fach' consider it a beautiful, moving Welsh song, when in fact it is a nonsense song, as a glance at the English translation of the lyrics shows.
Not very nice - but Morecambe and Wise 'Following you around'? These days that is stalking.
Don't ban it, please ! It's my best karaoke song
Welsh nutters wanted to change the name of the Varteg (which used to strike terror into everyone) to Fartegg.
Apart from any Welsh rugby stadia, this has been the club song at Stoke City (my local team) for over forty years.

OK, they sing a slightly (ahem!) amended version, but I can honestly say I have never thought of it as advocating violence of any kind.

Banning it will simply mean that Hughes's Barmy Army will sing it even louder (if possible, they are recorded as the loudest supporters in the country already!) so really, I think this MP is on a total loser here.

You can look for hidden meanings in anything if you want - is saying 'Send Her Victorious ...' in the National Anthem war-mongering?

Where do you stop?
Flower of Scotland......

thats about a battle!
/ 'Send Her Victorious ../

This is a classic case of mishearing. The original words are: 'Send her Victorias', meaning that all subjects should keep Her Majesty in an ample supply of plums.
Where the wild Roses Grow, Kylie Minogue feat. Nick Cave

On the third day he took me to the river
He showed me the roses and we kissed
And the last thing I heard was a muttered word
As he knelt above me with a rock in his fist

On the last day I took her where the wild roses grow
And she lay on the bank, the wind light as a thief
As I kissed her goodbye, I said, "All beauty must die"
And lent down and planted a rose between her teeth
Rugby players are such delicate sensitive souls. Of course they should not be subjected to hearing about violence in any form.
What about Richard Marx - Hazard?

(oh and did he kill her, because I can't work it out)
Is this true? Well he does look like a large man who doesn't take no for an answer. I wouldn't like to get on his bad side!
andy, here's verse 6 of God Save the Queen

Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush.
God save the Queen!

People do sometimes find it inadvisable to sing things that sounded all right when first written.
I think we need to start reviewing which songs we sing and where as we don't want to get into a tangle as we're out and about!
What an utter *** Mr Iwan is.
I can't wait for February 6th, where I have a feeling that the song will be performed with more gusto than ever and the Millenium crowd will let him know their feelings on the matter.
The word I actually asterisked out myself rhymes with sock and is the shortened word for a male chicken. Odd that the auto moderator still removed it.
Puff the Magic Dragon trivialises animal neglect. The child grew up and dumped the dragon, and it's scales fell off and died ! Now THAT, is just plain cruel !
janb you have made me cry. i've tears running down my face now. poor little thing.

does that mean goodbye to most rap?
Lady J, do you mean rap spelled with a capital and silent C?
no janb, sniff, sniff, rap thingies. that poor wee creature. sniff, sniff.
