Nice Disability Story, With A Nice Ending !

The Post Office seems pleased that "this has been brought to our attention"
But why didn't they do this simple adjustment to the Chip and Pin machines
before ? Surely this would have been a problem for wheelchair users as well. The Post Office is a very large company, and they should have realised that there was a problem right from the very start. Why wait until someone sued them ?

Don't see why it should be a law case. Do you think she is entitled to sue all the supermarkets for having goods out of her reach?

You are right zacs. This business of wrong accounting has been around for a few years within the Post Office, and it looks as if some serious miscarriages of justice may have been made. But still The Post Office refuses to accept that the problem may be theirs.

I expect she found it was the only way to get them to listen and respond Svejk. Sadly, you have to be rsey to get anywhere nowadays.

This young lady deserves a lot of praise for taking on a large organisation like the Post Office. She has helped huge amounts of people al over Britain in her actions. No wonder the Post Office is being very contrite, but I would like them to explain why they didn't do the proper thing to start with. We shouldn't have to sue companies because they show no common sense.

I couldn't understand why their chip and pin machines were fixed. I don't know of anywhere else that has fixed machines.

Neither do I woofy. I have just bought some diesel in Nowheresville, West Cornwall, in a garage that looks as if it hasn't changed much since the early 1950's, and their machine came with a nice long, very curly cord !

Would have been cheaper and easier to just provide a crate in each Post Office for people to stand on.

How do you get a wheelchair on a crate.

Last time I put Esso Extra in my tank down West we had to hand pump it. Lucky it was only an Austin A.30 and not a gas guzzler.

She is not in a wheelchair. She suffers from dwarfism. But if she was, a crate with a ramp attached. :-)

But someone might trip over the crate and then the PO would be facing a personal injury claim.
Longer leads seem to be the way to go.

Kiruna isn't in a wheelchair you're correct but this is about making 'chip and pin' machines accessible to all who wish to use them and cannot reach ones fixed to high counter tops.
