I am sure that the Public are now getting weary of this concentrated effort by the Press (most likely supported by certain Political parties) to hone in on anything said by a UKIP member and exaggerate it-could someone post a link to the transcript of his exact words? 'Offensive comments' according to the BBC but why not print what he said?

The remarks made by Smith more than two years ago were uncovered by the Mail on Sunday, which reported that he called members of a Ukip gay group called LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning) “*** disgusting old poofters” and branded them “BLTs”.

The newspaper said he joked about “shooting peasants”, referred to a woman with a Chinese name as a “chinky”, made claims he later retracted about the party leader, Nigel Farage, and called Steven Woolfe, Ukip’s immigration spokesman, a “*** carpetbagger” and an “***”.

Unbelievable, They are stooping to find things said over two years ago now LOL! I'm sure the Press office at UKIP could pump out a few choice soundbites uttered by Tories and Labour over the last two years -but guess what -we rise above it and see it for what it is, they can't fault the Policies and are in fact echoing some of UKIP's thoughts on Immigration and Healthcare - so they resort to hair pulling and other playground antics. Own goals all around chaps.

Last week you hoped I was not a UKIP supporter as you accused me of being racist for stating that many drivers I had seen on the M40 over a week end were "dark skinned". You were outraged and had never heard any thing so racist. I didn't describe them as P**i or ra****ds!! You seem to think that describing a chinese woman as a ch***y by a UKIP member is not so racist as it was allegedly said two years ago!! Oh well I suppose time heals as they say. retrocop -I rarely get 'outraged' I leave that to the readers of the daily mail. I am in no way condoning any alleged racial remarks made by this UKIP representative, merely stating that the Press are now stooping to scrape the barrel from two years ago to get a story. Considering you have made mention of our disagreement on this,and another thread, I can only assume my comments and conclusions that your attitudes to a certain ethnicity were racist have hit a chink in your amour.

What people like Mickey dont get is that UKIP are not aiming for his vote. There are plenty of people around who (maybe provately) do agree with some of these comments.

The right-on liberal left think that by making laws and shouting racist they can make people think like them. They are very wrong, it just harbours a deep grudge that will eventually come out.

youngmafbog - well said, the more the Tories and Labour scour the bottom of the barrel for cheap jibes at UKIP the more likely the closet UKIP'ers will warm to a Party that as far as I know, has not yet stooped to their level of personal attacks.

But your comments ,assumptions and conclusions were wrong. As a UKIP supporter and benefactor I hope you never put yourself forward as their spokesperson or spin doctor because you would be doing UKIP a great disservice. You cannot defend the indefensible even if it was alleged to have been said two years ago. If what Smith said is not derogatory,degrading and racist in your eyes then you can hardly accuse me of being the same for making an innocent comment.
