Very well deserved and a very magnanimous victory speech.
To be fair, he fought through some dreadful bad luck and no little 'interference' from his team mate before shining through with superior talent and determination. True Brit spirit.

A special mention too for the Helen Rollason Award winners, the GB Athletes from the Invictus Games. Prince Harry presented the award and I have to say I had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.
Well done to all concerned, it was a great showcase of Great British sporting talent that shone bright throughout the year.

Can't say it came as a surprise to me, although I suppose McIlroy could have had a good shout after all with his two majors this year, including the Open. But that was weeks ago, so it was always going to be Lewis I thought.

I was glad to see Jo Pavey on the podium. I also thought McIlroy looked a bit peeved about not winning.
I had a lump in my throat through much of the programme. I couldn't look at the telly while they put up names and photos of sports people who've died this year. I had to pretend to be engrossed in my crossword. Great choice for Lifetime Achievement, but Chris Hoy is so much younger than the usual recipients.

As well as a whole field of drivers to manoeuvre through on occasion as well as a team mate who used both fair means and foul and he still beat him.

Canary. When my daughter worked on ships for P&O, she paid her UK tax but then got most of it back from HMRC, because she was out of the country for most of her working year.
