I don't think he has ever been charged with any offence in the UK, so was free to travel anywhere he wanted.

Why was this man not arrested and convicted in 1975 when the Sunday People exposed him? Did the police ignore his crimes, or was he interviewed and let go? It appears to be a crime that was taken seriously by anyone at that time. Savile and other celebrity paedophiles were inexplicably unbothered by the police and practiced their deeds without fear of prosection.

Whilst such acts will inevitably damage the reputation of the individual's country of origin; the lawbreaking is the responsibility of the Indonesian authorities to investigate and stop. The most relevant question is why they seem to be having issues with that, rather than what happened to allow him to flee the UK in the 70s.

As far as I know he was exposed for belonging to the Paedophile Information Exchange and campaigning to make sex with children legal, neither which were offences in themselves. PIE had even been given grants by the Home Office.

Some PIE members were later prosecuted for printing contact details but none were charged with the offence of sex with minors. Some were charged with possessing child pornography.

This particular man was never charged with any offence.
