Paris Style Atrocity Coming Our Way
// Al-Qaeda is planning a Paris-style terrorist atrocity against Britain, according to the head of MI5.
They include plans to blow up a passenger jet; Mumbai-style shootings in crowded places; or even hit-and-run attacks using vehicles.
MI5 officers have increased surveillance of British fanatics who they fear may launch copycat attacks. Intelligence has shown that the Syrian arm of a resurgent al-Qaeda is planning similar outrages against the UK, possibly by British jihadists who have already returned from fighting in Syria or Iraq. //
And it TalkTalk and Plusnet's fault
// It is feared that a lack of cooperation from internet companies means that there is a risk of terrorists slipping through the net because MI5 cannot track them.
Mr Parker warned that terrorists may soon be able “to operate beyond our reach” as he renewed calls for enhanced access to digital communications. //

Yes, I see your point.
I was listening to R4 this morning and there were some pretty depressing things being said. The attitude from alot of muslims seems to be 'They brought it on themselves, they insulted the prophet' - and then almost as an afterthought '..violence is wrong though'.
One guy actually said he loved the prophet more than his parents, wife, and children. What a chilling and depressing mentality.

Terrorist acts, after the initial shock and disgust are all about creating uncertainty, fear and disruption to our lives. That's why the people of Paris were fantastic to publicly unite in the way that the did.
Of course, all major UK cities will now wonder who is next and when, and in that sense, the Terrorists have achieved something.
The biggest worry is despite the amount of efforts into making travel, particularly airline travel as safe as possible, these attacks can easily be random and in public areas with no security controls; shopping centres, public transport, shooting into crowds etc.....
The ability to track terrorists is near impossible. For every lead MI5 and associated networks receive there are probably a dozen individuals and several cells going completely unaccounted for in this country.

If you'd like to hear what walking piece of human garbage, Anjem Choudary, has to say on the matter, he's been published in USA today: http:// www.usa today.c om/stor y/opini on/2015 /01/07/ islam-a llah-mu slims-s hariah- anjem-c houdary -editor ials-de bates/2 1417461 /
(this is only surprising as USA today is the US's third largest newspaper, and usually doesn't represent the fringes)
Obviously he doesn't reflect the feeling of a normal muslim, but it's always good to hear from someone who should be wearing a very tight jacket.
Were the cartoons racist? You can see some of them here: http:// gawker. com/wha t-is-ch arlie-h ebdo-an d-why-a -mostly -comple te-hist o-16779 59168
I've read a little online from those saying they are, let me know what you think? Those opinions are from americans mostly, so maybe it's just a reflex? Or maybe I didn't get the cartoons?

Much has been said about the freedom of speech since this happened, in fact much was said in it's defence in a late night discussion regarding whether or not the offending cartoons should be reproduced or not.
It was said that although some may be offended by them, others should have the right to show them.
Does this "Freedom of Speech" extend to having the freedom to say and write certain words that at the moment we do not have the freedom to use?
