I was informed that Lance Percival killed someone whilst d/d and also damaged his own eye sight in the same RTA. After all these years I would like to have the record put straight about this entertainer because my information came from a very dubious source.( A very bigoted father)
Can't dismiss it sadly
//on 14 December 1970, he was involved in a fatal car crash near Farningham, Kent, apparently while racing another driver at high speed in his Jaguar XJ on a dangerous stretch of road near Brands Hatch. Percival almost lost the sight of one eye and was summoned to court where he agreed to pay substantial damages following the death of a third, uninvolved driver, Paul Young//

I did not discuss this with Mr Percival when I met him but he had signs of damage to his face (Looking it up I believe the accident occurred in 1970, so my estimate of our meeting being in 1971 may be a bit out as his injuries, whilst visible, had healed). Again going on reports the accident seemed to have occurred when he was allegedly racing another car on the A20 near Brands Hatch (probably the notorious but now renamed "Death Hill"). IOt does not seem that drink was involved.
Thank you for your confirmation. Death is Death in a RTA no matter if drink was involved or not. My bigoted source, as previously mentioned, has left me with a load of his theories that were imparted to me in my childhood so I would like the record put straight by those who were better informed than my source. Apparently, according my father, we were related to every VC recipient from Rourke's Drift to D Day. Sad.
