Anyone On Rivoroxaban Blood Thinner +Dentist Update
4 Answers
I have a second abscess on my tooth flipping painful I had one 2 weekd before Christmas so I went to see dentist today, I had previously seen him and he refused to take the tooth out because I am on rivoroxaban and as INR is not known he was unhappy about it he told me to speak to my doctor which I did he gave me a note to give to him saying that it was not up to GP to decide on whether I have extraction but there obviously was a risk of increased bleeding. Dentist decided to refer me to a hospital dental clinic the first appointment for an inital assesment is 19 February and then 6 weeks at least for an appointment. He said today that he is willing to take it out and he will pack it and hope for the best but if it is still bleeding after 30 minutes he will send me up to a and e in an ambulance???!!! What would A+ E do, put a stitch in it or something the whole thing is crazy if ir wasnt for the small chance of having a stroke because of Atrial Fibrillation I would come off it for a few days but GP says too risky/ I just want this tooth out im in a lot of pain

Not my area, but there would be non need of INR monitoring and no need to stop taking the drug. The incidence of bleeding following tooth extraction whilst taking Rivoroxaban does not seem to be increased.
I don't think that A&E would put a stitch in it, as they are more likely to pack the socket.
