"...referring to this woman as "he", which is just disrespectful. She's a she, after all!"
That is an example of the dogmatic opinionated bigotry I mentioned earlier.
It's the way one or two individuals make a bolshy display of the fact that they clearly disapprove of, or don't accept trans-sexualism.

The person was born a male. This person is trying to "bend" the law of genetics. HIS DNA and chromosomes will always be MALE no matter what you cut off and surgically reconstruct ergo HE is a HE and not a SHE . A rat born in a stable is not a horse!! This person is trying to bend the law of genetics to become someone of another gender. "Gender bending"

Sorry but this man is not a woman - he still has his male genitalia so it can't be disrespectful to call him 'him'. You castrate a male horse you still call him 'him' not 'her'. He can wear as much makeup as he likes and wear a nice frock but as much as he doesn't want to be he's still a man . Its like that bearded 'conchita that won the song contest wearing full makeup and a sparkly gown 'oh isn't 'she' lovely -no 'she' is a 'he' and its fact, not disrespectful.
It is disrespectful, because, after all, she is presenting as a woman. And comparisons with horses are rather low. In the meantime, Conchita Wurst is a slightly different case. She's a performance artist and not a transgender person, still on occasion living and presenting as her male self. I appreciate that the pronouns can get messy but it is about respect and you really, really ought to refer to this woman as she. At the very least, if you ever met her I'd hope you'd refer to her as her. Here, where she might not see the conversation, it matters a bit less perhaps but then there may well be other transpeople reading, so it does well to show some respect. In this case, that means honouring their wish to be called a woman if that is how they present.
Just because I call a spade a spade does not mean I don't approve of it or feel it has a rightful place in the tool shed. Just because some male feels they are female does not mean I feel obligated to go along with them -they can do what they like its a free country they don't need mine or anyone else s 'approval'
sorry jim360 and AP
I am not comparing a human to a rat or a horse.you are rather sad and misinformed that they are sayings that represent the fact that you are genetically what you are and nothing will change that not even an artificial attempt.Similar to the saying " You can't polish a turd" That is not disrespect. That is FACT
