Perhaps Tory voters aren’t embarrassed at all. It could be that they can’t be bothered to get into arguments with people who view their unrealistically idealised political world through rose coloured spectacles.
I never pay any attention to polls although a few on this site seem to be obsessed with them.
1970 was a famous case of the polls being wrong, and also 1992.
However the exit polls at elections as I recall are usually pretty accurate.
So does that suggest that once the dirty deed is done people are more willing to own up to it? Hmmm

I agree with Naomi. I remember the 92 election which Kinnock was widely predicted to win. One of the earliest results declared was Basildon, a key marginal which Labour had to win. When the incumbent right-wing Tory MP held the seat there was panic amongst the chatterati. What's going on here?
