sorry on a point of accuracy the applications to dismiss were under the FGM Act 2003 which allows a lawful defence that a doctor was treating someone post delivery.
Judge in his wisdom turned down all three applications
but the jury indulged in something the americans call Jury Nullification
( juries acquit on evidence if they think the law is unfair )
