Well, Sisi is talking about vengeance in their own time. Egypt have not taken part in the US led strikes but, gradually, ISIS are increasing their provocation.

It is rather sobering to note that the uptake of Jews fleeing Nazi Germany was a fixed number at the time, came to a halt and their population in each European country remained steady theteafter whereas the Islamic influx has been continuous. This article is the first I have read to point out that Jewish people are now outnumbered and even feel the need to alter their clothes and appearance so as to feel safe walking down the street.

Let alone more subtle matters such as freedom of expression.

As for politicians, I fear that they have actually been playing to appeal to the 'right-on' (indigenous) crowd, rather than appeal to, or appease, the minority groups themselves.

More fool Labour if the immagrants they encouraged to come here turn out to be entirely 'on the make' and, thus, natural Tories.

We destablise the Governments in Iraq, Libya and Syria then when an unsavory bunch fill the vacuum, we feel threatened.
If IS are going to kill British Aid workers and Journalists, we should then send a bog response of men on the ground and full air support. If we are mot going to do that, then we should stop moaning.

My apologies: Coptics in Libya. They're mainly Maronites in Syria, aren't they?

And until this post and its link I'd always thought the Coptic church was exclusively Egyptian and Ethiopian.

The word Copt as Wetuste well knows comes from the same root as Egypt, and is based on Coptos - now Quft - near Qena and Luxor. The village name gave its name to the whole country ( miosis or synecdoche I think )

Seeing these pictures of mass executions etc, what I cannot understand is they all seem so orderly, and the victims so placid, wouldn't you think that their victims knowing their fate would be less controllable?
