It does look as though they were playing 'Chicken'. He was very lucky to have got up and walked away. He didn't make it to the other side though, did he ? Idiots!

Oh ! ...sorry Auntie....I thought I had posted this in Chatterbank ! A senior moment perhaps !

Thanks.
How on earth this boy survived this is beyond me

Why?
The lorry driver had spotted the kids, any good driver will anticipate that it is quite possible the kids might make a dash for the other side of the road. So he would have had his right foot hovering over the brake pedal, The video shows there was plenty of time to stop when the first boy made a run for it.
NP mikey they are very close together :-)

would you like me to move it to CB?

You can not predict that, this type of game was regular by the little ***.

Is that statement not a contradiction in terms, TWR?
Luckily the incident has only resulted in a couple of pairs of soiled smalls. Could have been so much worse.

One hopes the kids learn their lesson but I suspect it will have the opposite effect of making them feel invincible.

I am not sure that this IS a game of chicken. Rather, it was a serious misjudgment by the boys involved. Its hard to tell, but it looks as if the HGV was going at a fair lick and I think it is incredible that he didn't hit the boy with more force. My sympathies still lie with the driver though. If I had been behind the wheel, it would have been me that ended up in the Hospital, with heart failure !

When I was working up in Town 25 years ago, I met a Tube train driver, that was involved with a suicide in front of his train, and he told me that it was 4 weeks before he could return to work afterwards.
If that HGV was going faster Mikey, the lad would not have got up I can assure of that, I have seen women pushing prams out when the front end (unit) of an Artic has passed them only to be followed by the Trailer, That happened to me Years ago in Worksop, now the town is By Passed.
I feel sorry for the driver as well.

My grandad was knocked over, his own fault because he walked out between two parked cars, and the driver was absolutely devastated.
The breaking retardation as shown on the dashcam shows great reactions by a good driver though if accurate,87km/ph is a bit naughty on an undivided carriageway. Lucky and stupid lad. He owes that driver his life.
When I dealt with jumpers at Lancaster Gate Underground it was the RMT who insisted the driver had paid t/o from driving whether they wanted it or not!!
You can't see the numbers on this clip but if you look at the clip posted by Canary in Motoring you can see that the lorry was doing 87kph before the incident and around 50kph at the time of impact.
