The banks just seem to carry on with their cavalier dealings, if the government went out on an all out assault to get a conviction on one high profile CEO on which their was strong evidence the institution they were in charge of was involved in serious financial wrongdoing, would this mark a change in the attitude with the banks that they cannot continue the way they are going. Set up a regulation body that has real teeth, not the toothless ones we have now. No plea bargaining or ineffectual fines don't let them step aside haul them up in court as an example. Make it personal. Thoughts?

You're assuming that there will be one ( a conviction). I'm not so sure.
No.

Private Eye has been reporting on the wrongdoing of financial institutions [and others] (and their close links with persons in government) for many years – to some extent the magazine makes depressing reading.

This is the main problem - too many politicians have vested interests in the banks - can't rock the boat too much otherwise all those up to their neck in it get found out.
