dave50 - //If you can have a black pride or gay pride day, why not a white pride or heterosexual pride day? //

Because in the case of gay or black people, they are in a minority, and in instances, an oppressed minority.

By definition, white people are the majority, so they do not need to demonstrate their solidarity and their unwillingness to be segregated or badly treated - because they are not, so the notion is pointless.
//By definition, white people are the majority,//

That would rather depend on where you live.

I my opinion all these divisive parades and groups should be stopped. It we want to live as one, in harmony, then no group should singled themselves out, otherwise we will never achieve a full 'as one' society.

An entirely fair point.

I live in a mostly white area, albeit with a growing ethnic population.

I totally agree.

does alleged oppression mean that they are more equal than the rest of the population? does equality now come with caveats attached?
Why cant there be a white pride day that doesn't involve a) right wing thugs and b) left wing thugs who pitch up to start a fight ?

I unsure what your point is - the concept of one group being 'more equal' only really works in political satire like Animal Farm - it can't exist here in the real world.

Equality cannot come with caveats attached, that would rather defeat the entire concept.
