Everything may not be as it seems. I've just answered a post concerning flavour chemistry in the Food and Drink Category which was the most suitable place for the question. My post was nevertheless, reasonably scientific.

It's more active when a newbie turns up with umpteen queries to be answered in series. Otherwise pure physics/chemistry/biology questions are few, and related ones probably better placed in other forums.

i think that it is because of the wealth of information on the net. however my one gripe is that on a lot of threads there is a dearth of thesaurus info at the beginning of these articles on the net.
