Can the UK launch nuclear missiles without help from any other country?

^^ None of that changes the fact that we CAN launch without the USA's say so. It is never going to happen but in theory we could. Which is what you asked . In reality I can not see a sitution where a nuclear strike by any country will result in anything other than the end of the western world.

I have read with interest all the posts on this thread.
Whether or not I agree or disagree with having trident it still appears to me after further reading that although we could launch these missiles without consent or help from any other country the UK would need the US satellite guidance system to target them accurately which seems to me that we would only be able to use them, and I am not saying for one moment that we should, if the US allows use of their guidance system. Now I am just an ordinary person with no expert knowledge in this field but it appears that the UK is just a USA missile base here to protect US against a threat and that the UK would bear the brunt of any retaliation.
I would be grateful for any sensible input from you all pointing out if I have the right or wrong end of the stick.
TIA
