This idiot whinged that he only dodged about £9714 and is objecting about the losses. However until the story came out he and Chiltern Railways were quite prepared to come to a deal of paying the full amount to keep his name out of the papers. A bit rich he's crying foul now he's been exposed. And a barrister too!!! He should be fined more as an example to others!!! You can imagine in his professional capacity if he was prosecuting someone else that committed a similar crime he would he hauling them over the coals - why should he be any different. Hope he's disbarred too!!!

the law is the law, there is no grey area - throw the book at him
Seconded, or even thirded. There should be no-one above the law, not even royalty and he doesn't come anywhere near that. What an example to young people, especially those thinking of taking up the law as a profession.

And another.... http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/dec/15/ca-ban-43000-fare-dodger-financial-services-industry-blackrock-jonathan-burrows

Do these rich idiots think they are above the law, we can see why the banking crisis happened when this caliber of person are working in this industry!!!
Family problems are such a bore, how else could he have acted? They must have been such a financial burden on him , what rotters they could have stumped up some of his fare.
Back in the real world, throw him in prison.
He will lose his job and never work as a lawyer again.
when this story first surfaced a week or 2 back, the majority of the comments accompanying the stories on the news websites were of the opinion that train companies were such robbing 'stards that they deserved guys like this giving them a good royal shafting.

so perhaps he's morally right and to be applauded?
