Well they prosecute war criminals in their absence so why can't they do it with him.
I think there is a lot of play acting with these very wealthy and influential people. Their lawyers and such like play the medical card. Just look a Gunniess (is that how you spell it?) he was diagnosed with dementia of some sort and then lived the high old life.

I am pretty sure they dont in this country Cassa
not even for war crimes
and the countries that DO allow it, France and Italy spring to mind do NOT allow retro active legislation- which the english War Crimes Act is.
The act criminalized in 1999 behaviour left over from the war - and outside the united kingdom - evidentially a pain in the a-r-s-e
swings and roundabouts
If you turn up for a trial and then runa way half way thro - that does NOT count as in absentia
