Unable To Vote - What Happens?

I've just seen this and wondered if anyone knows what happens if people are denied a vote on the polling day through no fault of their own? Do they just not get a vote?

I would hope so Wolf. I wonder if there are any kind of legal or other such ramifications from this, if they have been denied their right to vote.

Yes there is

they could for example apply without notice ( ex parte ) to a Judge in chambers for an order ( mandamus ) ordering the returning officer to give the applicant a vote

This was done twenty years ago or so - clearly the unregistered voter was a junior barrister and someone ( ? pupil master ) commented - this was more of an exercise for the applicant ( claimant/plaintiff ) than a real way of getting a vote

Wasnt it the last election where they locked out 25 waiting at 10 pm to vote and the police were called ? No one can vote after 10 pm yeah but if you had organised yourselves better we could have and intended tovote before ... I cant recollect what happened
