No Checks On Voters

I realised today just how vulnerable my vote is - went into the polling station, was just asked my address then my name (without any sort of identification required) and was handed a ballot paper! I could have been anyone.!

Our polling cards were quite clear...."You do NOT need this polling card with you, in order to vote".
I'd be surprised if it were any different throughout the country.

Perhaps we should introduce a system whereby each voter has to dip their index finger in a well of purple dye, to prevent persons voting twice.

It clearly says here you do NOT need your polling card to vote.

I am not sure if people are aware, but the SAME people man the desks in the polling station from 7am to 10pm (they are not allowed to leave the building).

So they well notice if the same person came in to vote more than once.

Unless they were wearing a burka which covered their face of course (I don't think people wearing a burka have to remove it but you do need to remove a crash helmet)

It doesnt work too badly-the idea is not to hinder people from voting
I would be surprised Prudie if they had turned you away w/o the card
BUT
that is why you have to turn up to the right polling station

A GP voted for some of his patients - and did time for it

and altho it is anonymous etc your voting ballot number IS recorded shoutl a check beed to be made later

Sorry rsvp I had to to out. To answer your q. I'm not sure at all but I imagine you would not be able to vote if you were already marked off that your vote had been cast. There must be some sort of check or complaints procedurre to look into cases such as this. I had my doubts about the postal votes because there is no visual check on who you really are.

Thankfully I cast my vote with no problem but the sheer lack of any sort of identification check gave me food for thought. Thanks everyone.

Although you can take your polling card, there is no legal requirement to do so.
