UKIP are bleating that the FPTP system is keeping them out of power.
Well, it doesn't seem to have stopped the SNP has it ? After all, the SNP came 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in many Election up until now, but they still managed to win 56 seats, out of a possible 59.
It isn't the voting system that keeps UKIP out of Westminster...its just that there are not enough gullible people in Britain to vote for them.
There has been a awful of thunder and lighting from UKIP, and about UKIP this last years or two, especially on AB, but what have they actually achieved.....one solitary seat in Parliament, just like the Greens !

i think he probably will resign, and it will be a shame. I don't particularly like his brand of politics, but he does appear to be more connected and down to earth than most of them (or perhaps that's what he wants me to think. The problem is his Party is a one trick pony with not much depth, although he is charismatic as a leader of it
Retrochic...according to the BBC, UKIP only got 12.6% of the popular vote.

He may have lost in his constituency, but during the election campaign he certainly made the other parties stand up and take notice on issues such as the EU and immigration, it most likely would not have been discussed without him.
At least we are now promised a referendum on the EU and a more tougher approach on immigration, under Labour we would have got neither of these important issues.
