It is has often been suspected that the majority of our teachers are left-wing, judging by this story, it would appear that they are.

Well if it's true it didn't really work did it?
Did a mature studsents course a few years ago and all the tutors were biased towards the left, even to the extent of letting it affect how projects were marked.
Not necessarily

I recall my wife's first posting in a primary school, and one teacher who defiantly insisted on keeping an 'empire' map of the world, where all the empire territories were coloured pink, and she told the children to always 'Be British ...' and similar stuff.

It goes on with any political person who is able to attempt to influence others - it goes with the territory - even on here!
*eyes glaze over mysteriously* *speaks in monotonous voice* No I have never been brainwashed as a child and it is all complete nonsense... the teachers are perfect paragons of unbiased virtue...

So sorry, zoned out for a second there... how is everyone?
Are they not the same teachers that were trying to turn me gay!
'It is has often been suspected that the majority of our teachers are left-wing,'

Suspected by whom, AOG?
I know many teachers and I can assure you they are not left wing.
My son is a teacher and he is definitely not left wing. In fact I know quite a few and none of them are.
So, who suspects that they are?
I love an easy post.
No.
A simple answer AOG.

So it is wrong for a teacher to tell their pupils, "to always be British"?

I rest my case.
"I know many teachers and I can assure you they are not left wing. "

Im obviously mixing in the wrong circles.

If i could show you the posts on FB of the ones I know...theyre a disgrace.

Fine just don't tar everybody with the same brush.
Would it be fair to say teachers political views cover the entire spectrum from left to right?

/// Fine just don't tar everybody with the same brush. ///

And who precisely is "tarring everyone with the same brush"?
AOG - //So it is wrong for a teacher to tell their pupils, "to always be British"?

I rest my case. //

If it is being used in the sense of feeling superior to other races that we once controlled in far-off sadly mourned days (and it was!), then I would say yes, it is!
sandyRoe - //Would it be fair to say teachers political views cover the entire spectrum from left to right? //

Absolutely - but that sort of even-handedness doesn't sell papers!
Indeed it would, sandyRoe. Over 30 years in state schools I have never, never heard, seen or been aware of any teacher handing out political literature to pupils below 6th form age (there is a case at 6th form level to develop political awareness, but all parties would be represented). Teachers come in all shapes, forms and of all political leanings. The loud-mouthed ones tend to get the headlines.
Sing if your glad to be gay
Sing if you're happy that way...
Honest guv it didn't work!!
