It is has often been suspected that the majority of our teachers are left-wing, judging by this story, it would appear that they are.

I recall my wife's first posting in a primary school, and one teacher who defiantly insisted on keeping an 'empire' map of the world, where all the empire territories were coloured pink, and she told the children to always 'Be British ...' and similar stuff.
It goes on with any political person who is able to attempt to influence others - it goes with the territory - even on here!

Indeed it would, sandyRoe. Over 30 years in state schools I have never, never heard, seen or been aware of any teacher handing out political literature to pupils below 6th form age (there is a case at 6th form level to develop political awareness, but all parties would be represented). Teachers come in all shapes, forms and of all political leanings. The loud-mouthed ones tend to get the headlines.
