The Road Steward for our road (24 houses) suggested to me how easy how easy he could have used some of the votes of other people living in our road. He knows everybody's name and if they were intending not to vote or were away and not using a postal vote. When he went to the polling station on Election day he did not have to produce his Polling Card and was not asked for photo I.D.
I think security should be tightened up in elections as the voting in Tower Hamlets showed that corruption is rife in certain parts of the country.
If this country is to solve the illegal immigration problem a start could be made by introducing a National Registration Identity Card .

// Everyone gets a voting card, it can't be that difficult to have a hand it back to get a vote system.// no Geez - that is an obstacle to allowing people to vote and the whole point is to get em in their voting so it is made easy and there are other checks to fraud

Surely they'd recognise him each vote that he did? Unless he also has an amazing array of disguises!
forget voting - i'm more interested in road stewards - what are they??
The scenario is a bit far-fetched, imho. As Boo says, he would probably have been recognised by someone at the polling station and i don't really believe that he did not have to produce some sort of i.d.
What is a Road Steward please ?
Haha, for some odd reason I thought it said Rod Stewarts! And no, I didn't understand that either, but chose to ignore it.

Our residents association has Road Stewards who collect the subs and hand out a News Letter giving details of Planning Applications and any other local news.
If as said, he could have fooled the Polling Station Officials and was also prepared for the penalty for the crime he was committing then I am sure he could have done.
You must have a very nosy RA rep as mine know considerably less about my household's voting intentions.........
Thank you for the enlightenment Bob.

//..and i don't really believe that he did not have to produce some sort of i.d.//

Well i didn't have to produce any id
I'm still confused over the Road Steward bit...subs for what exactly??
I think that it's most likely a neighbourhood watch type of thing, B00. The subs usually pay for the magazine ( usually quarterly if I remember rightly ).
I'd rather keep me sub money and read owt I need to know about my neighbourhood from FB and local paper- mind you I am a tight northerner ;-)
- mind you I am a tight northerner ;-)

Of course B00, I fully understand ;-)
There is always some gawd dammed awful excuse being made to try to foist id cards on free citizens of this country. Why don't those desperate to be controlled or to control others, not just give up ?

Everyone gets a voting card, it can't be that difficult to have a hand it back to get a vote system.
What on earth is a "Road Steward "
Sound like busy-bodies to me !
bobo

there is a difference between what he said he could do and what he did

or as Judge Judy would say: coulda shoulda woulda

I would not dream of going into the voting booth twice
[ not because I habitually behave so badly or am rude to other voters ]

not only because of that - but because the voting officer is there all the time ( by 10 pm using match sticks I think ) and would recognise me
and say oi oi !

( there is another thread on this - on the day which covered this point )
// Everyone gets a voting card, it can't be that difficult to have a hand it back to get a vote system.//

no Geez - that is an obstacle to allowing people to vote
and the whole point is to get em in their voting

so it is made easy
and there are other checks to fraud
