I think the problem that gay people have with ISIS is that there isn't a focus that can be attacked.
There was the boycott of the Dorchester hotel group after the sultanate introduced a series of new laws which specifically targeted gay people, and there was the boycotting of Russian products after Putin introduced law prohibiting the 'promotion of alternative lifestyles'...but ISIS are a whole different kettle of fish.
So, I don't think you're right when you say that gay people do not concerned with what's going on in the Middle East...it's just that when there's a specific leader or group, or company - it's easy to focus...with ISIS, there isn't.
