Have some of you never been in a working environment with both sexes? Woman and men do fall in love, go out, flirt etc Woman do cry at work quite often in my experience (yesterday where I work though not me). So do men.

Naomi...contrary again ! As Hunt had already apologised, 24 hours ago, live on the Beeb, it can't be me that suggested he do it. But I won't flinch away from saying that an apology was needed. He is an important figure in British scientific life and he should have realised that to spout such nonsense was going to make headlines...he was foolish.

And for the record, for the third time....I don't think he should have resigned or been asked to do so.

I am going to put you on the spot again.....do you think he was correct in what he said about women in science ? A simple yes or no will suffice !

I think the general reaction among people I know is something close to "sigh... *rolls eyes*". Not really offended. It's irritating, perhaps, that such views still persist among certain people. The good thing is that such people don't last long in positions of responsibility any more.

Mikey, of course I’m contrary – I disagree with you – and for the second time I haven’t suggested you agreed with his resignation. He is only deemed foolish by the politically correct because they, as always, make a fuss over nothing by insisting that political correctness rules.

You’re not putting me on the spot. As far as I’m concerned he can say what he likes. If anyone disagrees with him they’re at liberty to say so – but they should not be at liberty to silence him.
