"Three things happen when they are in the lab: you fall in love with them, they fall in love with you, and when you criticise them they cry." and when you criticise them they cry.... And when Tim Hunt is critised he sulks and resigns... lol the irony.

// You need to work on your empathy, jim. //
Nope Schweik actually he doesnt ....
Jim does Math and so there isnt a Nobel Prize ever for the lucky fellow
although the Fields Medal is kinda like it
so he is like John Nash another mathematician star of A Beautiful Mind
( played by Russell Crowe ) - but probably not as muscular - who, oops! DID get a Nobel but that was for economic theory
never mind but anyway you know what I mean
O! by they way that reminds me - no Nobel for Math because Mrs Nobel was screwing the local mathematician whilst Alfred Nobel was blowing himself up .... they say

I have researched the post where I suggested that these women attending the horse races looked like slappers and it appears that dozens of posts have been removed ! Many of you thought that the women disgraced themselves. But my posts are still there, and this one.......guess who posted this :::::
"The point is Ratter, that these ladies haven't arrived in jeans and crocs - they have made an effort to 'dress up' for what they see as a special occasion - and not only has that not worked, they don't appear to possess a modicum of self-respect either"
So...... it appears that I wasn't the only one who thought that the women made embarrassing fools of themselves !
And I still think that the one with the tattoo "sleeve" looks awful. To my mind, she looked like a Merchant Navy sailor, in drag.

"I think the general reaction among people I know is something close to "sigh... *rolls eyes*". Not really offended. It's irritating, perhaps, that such views still persist among certain people. The good thing is that such people don't last long in positions of responsibility any more.".
Can you explain, please, exactly what you meant when you wrote the last sentence, Jim? I read it like this: people who hold certain opinions should either (a) NOT be hired for certain "responsible" positions, or (b) that they should be removed from those positions if they express "such views" in public. Is my interpretation a true, a half true, or an untrue representation your views?

I said that – and re-posting it here won’t get you off the hook. There’s a vast difference between observing that people behave with not an iota of decorum and calling them ‘slappers’ which, I believe, means something else entirely. You are in a hole so best take Talbot’s advice. Stop digging.

Mary-mary...trying to wriggle out of your previous remarks I see !
Here are some of the other things you said on that previous post ::::
"Ummmm, I don't think most of them look nice. Drunk or not, I think most of them look cheap and undignified"
"I agree with NJ"... (when he said the following ::: "The standard of dress seen at these events goes along with the standard of behaviour. People have not been taught that you do not dress and behave at a racecourse as you would in a tatty nightclub. Dress and behaviour is not moderated to suit the occasion and so it seems from the photos in the article)
So, it would seem that we were both saying the same thing, only using different words ::::
You...."Cheap and undignified"
Me..."slappers"
But, apparently, according to you, I was wrong and you were right , as you always are !
Contrary as usual I see.

Svejk, I'm surprised I wasn’t on the list long ago. :o)
Mikey, //Or as Mary-Mary would have it....//
May I remind you of your post a few pages ago.
//Can I remind everyone that when we post on AB, we all agree to be behave in accordance with what it says at the top of the page ::::
"We understand that debates get heated, but personal attacks and abusive language will not be tolerated"//
That burst of self-righteousness was short lived. Who'd have guessed? ;o)

Naomi...it is your incredible ability to be contrary about issues that gave me the idea of nicknaming you as Mary-Mary, which was meant as a gentle tease and nothing more. Which I am sure you knew already. But I am more than happy not to use the phrase again if you that is what you wish.
The reason that I continue to debate with you and not some others on here, is that you raise important issues and always have interesting things to say, on a range of different subjects. Others just make carping remarks from the sidelines and rarely make any worthwhile contributions to debates.
