Just dusting off the Peace In Our Time script for you to use in your defence of the indefensible, Andy. Your loose use of 'hate' and 'hatred' as by so many today suggests a lazy shorthand approach to those daring to disagree with your rosy view of the world. Disgust, disdain, disbelief at the attitude of appeasement toward the unspeakable maybe. But not hatred...

Talbot - //'Yet again the Muslim haters queue up to gloat about the death of a child.' //

Are you trying to suggest that you are not a Muslim hater?

Your posts suggest otherwise!

So why on earth are you insulted? If you can rejoice in the death of a teenager, surely you can rejoice in your hatred of the people who 'made him die' - ?

Backdrifter - //andy hughes - after a quick read through this thread so far, I'm heartened by your comments, standing out as they do amid the one-zero binary approach of most of the other posts. You are at least trying to state a thoughtful, reasonable viewpoint while making it clear you don't condone this young man's actions, and I'm sorry though completely unsurprised at the tone of many of the responses to you. I agree with you; we need to constructively consider why young people can be apparently so easily radicalized to commit such atrocities, and try to understand it, if we are to have any hope of combating and ending it.

Thank you for your support - it is very much appreciated.

I am constantly accused of being naiive, or wearing rose-coloured glasses, or being a general apologist for murderers, but as you have deduced, I am none of these things.

I do believe that shrugging your shoulders and saying 'serves him right / he had it coming / they are all murderers .....' and so on ad nauseum is merely a cop-out and an excuse to do nothing, which ironic, since doing nothing is likely to hasten the 'takeover' that everyone claims to be so terrified of!

Show me a post that suggests I hate Muslims.
AOG...can you please point out where I have excused him?

Not clapping my hands with glee is not excusing anything and to be honest I'm pretty sick and tired of you accusing everyone who doesn't come in with the same mantra as you as being sympathisers.

I do not sympathise with terrorists and I do not sympathise with murderers.

I hope that's clear!!!

I retired long before ISIL appeared on the radar and before war broke out in Syria.
I have no doubt whatsoever that what you wrote at 1355 is entirely theasible and am sure that as we mourn our suicide bomber there are cells being accommodated within the muslim community. I am yet to believe that any,so called, moderate would stand up and give any information about illegal terrorist activities to the authorities.
If there is any scaremongering it is by the extremists on their own people.
Of all the muslims who have left the UK, to go to Syria how many parents or friends have denounced their intent to the authorities. It is always denial of any knowledge after the event and I just do not believe them.

As you say.May be not in our lifetime (Slightly older than you) but the time will come soon after I am sure.

Thanks Retro, was just curious to latest 'News' from your Job, I'm still in touch with quite a few Serving Members of The RM's and it's a scenario that is being 'discussed' shall we say, at *** levels.
/// Talbot - disagreeing is fine - providing a - shall we say 'robust' response without due explanation is simply being insulting, and against the spirit, and indeed rules, of the site. ///

/// Thanks. ///

/// Does the vitriol you live with on a daily basis and shoot on here regularly give you headaches, heartburn, sleepless nights, a permanent scowl? ///

What a hypocrite.

I bet it is. COBRA just been dusted over no doubt and water carafes filled.
/// It is scaremongering, and it is fundamentally wrong, and the 'threat' of Muslims is the latest in a long line, and it does not mean it is real, or has any prospect of being real. ///

/// If everyone stopped believing the media's propaganda, we would all be a lot happier, because they are not basing their stories on truths, merely on maybes, and whatifs, and that is not news, or fact, it is scaremongering, and it is wrong, and should not be encouraged. ///

Thank goodness we didn't take this approach back in the late 30s, but then even then there were others with the same views as this person, good job we took no notice of their like back then, and we would be wise not to take notice of them now.
Did anyone read this link?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3124288/British-jihadist-Thomas-Evans-killed-fighting-terror-group-al-Shabaab-Kenya.html

Here we have not a 'CHILD' but an adult, who converted to Islam and joined the terror group al-Shabaab, and is reported killed attacking a military base in
Kenya.

/// His mother Sally, had been updating the authorities about his activities in Somalia, ///

Notice the different attitude between this mother and the 17 year old's father.

I will be in the garden...give me a shout when you get back, andy (you've gone very quiet)

Also can you show me exactly where on this thread I am 'rejoicing' in the death of a teenager
AOG - //What a hypocrite. //

Who is this hypocrite - don't be vague ...
Talbot - hands up, I did confuse your views with those of other posters - I unreservedly withdraw my remarks, and apologise for any offence caused.

It's getting to be a recurring theme with you, andy. Apologising in between telling other people how to behave.

You cannot possibly compare the situation in 1939 when the entire country was told on the same day at the same time that it was at war with an acknowledged aggressor whose activities had been pointing towards that outcome for some time, with the admittedly horrifying and barbatric acts of IS, which are on a miniscule scale if you are comparing - which you can't, because it doesn't fit.

Once again - please don't refer to me as 'another person' - this war of attrition has gone on long enough, so why don't you draw a line and move on. You'll probably feel better!

Svejk - I have never, and would never 'tell anyone how to behave' - that is your misinterpretation of my views.

As to apologising, I have always, and will always hold my hands up if I am wrong, and offer an apology, because that is adult behaviour and good manners - sorry (there I go again!) if you have a problem with that.
divebuddy - //All this stuff about rejoicing is just plain silly. I don't "rejoice" when I kill a slug in my garden before it ruins a plant. But I am glad it's dead. I feel the same about idiots like this latest jihadist murderer. //

That is a chilling indictment of your views of other human beings and their deaths, because unnatural deaths, however caused, diminish us all.
