Clarkson Offered Job Back - But When?

The sub-headline says that Clarkson was offered his Top Gear role "days after Chris Evans was given role ..."

and then the text advises he was offered the job "just days before Chris Evans was given the lucrative gig."

So which is it?

Not that I care, I have never watched the programme which appears from snatches I have seen to be an expensive version of Last Of The Summer Wine - three grown-ups behaving like little boys.

Anyone have any thoughts? Media URL: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3130739/BBC-offered-Gear-job-says-Clarkson-Presenter-says-refused-role-corporation-executive-compared-Jimmy-Savile.html

typo ? Love your comparison with Last of the summer wine lol! They always reminded me of three public school boys have a jolly wheeze, though I doubt Chris Evans will be any better, I can't stand him!
I think the person who wrote the headlines just got it wrong. The story's clear enough.

Blame the subeditor!

Never watched it as it is not my thing, only seen the adverts for it and I cant see the point in it,3 grown men acting like school-kids
Seems to be an anti Clarkson thread.

It was a big money spinner for the BBC, so looks like many around the world don't agree with you lot.
Its not just Clarkson, the other 2 dont appear to be any better

It's not anti-Clarkson at all - as I advised, I have no opinion one way or the other, and I have opined previously on this site that I greatly admire JC as a writer.

No problem - thanks for clarifying.
I don't mind Chris Evans, but hope it doesn't become 'The Chris Evans show with cars'.

No matter how childish some folk think of Clarkson, Hammond and May, they did bring new life into the show and brought enjoyment to millions, a bit like the dull repetitive soaps do for others.
Retrochic, it was Ludwig who made the last of the Summer Wine comparison.

ludwig
It's not a program about cars Methyl, it's a comedy show about 3 old blokes bickering and doing crazy stunts. Like last of the Summer Wine.

Actually, it was me in my OP!
It was Ludwig on Tue 16th Jun 2015 @ 23:01

Very funny too imo,
Question Author
I have made the comparison previously on an earlier thread, and stake my claim to be the originator of it!!!
Fair enough, I just remember Ludwig saying a couple of days ago ...even he wouldn't have been the first to make the comparison though.
The big difference between the shows is that Top gear's funny.
When he's finished his 'anger management' course perhaps...;-)
Chris Evans was once sacked by the BBC for regularly failing to turn-up for duty on Radio one. Now he's considered by the Corporation as something really special. He's already reputed to be paid more than a million ponds a year by the BBC for his Radio 2 show (£600,000) and TV..'The one show' (£500,000). It is also thought that he will earn a further million pounds a year for Top Gear.

Hans.
