You have a curious idea of "dictators", who traditionally don't allow opt-out clauses ...
While I do admire him for this stand, it doesn't gladden my heart at having a Tory Government.

Furthermore, there've been too many U-turns to give me much confidence in this case.
IMO it would have suited the UK if ALL migrants and immigrant numbers were cut to nought! That would make me glad we have a Tory government if they did that. Do you honestly think it will stop at the quotas given, don't be fooled...we will still be sinking under the weight of bods as time goes on, it's gonna be hell methinks.
I think it would be fair to differentiate between genuine refugees, from places like Syria for example, and economic migrants. Cameron washing his hands of the problems of the former shames us all.
Isn't it a temporary reprieve? How long is it likely before the Polish, Romanian, etc. quotas make their way here,,,,,,legally.
We shall see Svejk, we shall see!

As Charlie Chester would say:

Down in the jungle, living in a tent,

Better than a prefab - no rent!

Speak for yourself sandy, it doesn't shame me.

If they are truly refugees from a war torn country, then Africa is a very large continent with plenty of countries these refugees could go to escape danger.

And after all they would better fit in with people of their own heritage and traditions, instead of coming to a European country and trying to change ours.

Totally agree Bouncer.
>>>Cameron washing his hands of the problems of the former shames us all.

Rubbish.

With it reported this week that the UK population is at a record high, how many more people can we take?

Do you leave YOUR front door open to let anyone walk in and share your house with you, or course you don't.

The are billions in the world worse off than us in the UK, do we keep taking them all?

Of course overlooked in all of this is that those countries that do accept their "quota" need only grant them a (say, French) pasport and, hey presto, the migrants have unfettred access to the entire EU. It surprises me that the French do not tackle the problems at Calais by this method.

Sandy; //I think it would be fair to differentiate between genuine refugees, from places like Syria for example, and economic migrants. Cameron washing his hands of the problems of the former shames us all.//

Opting out from the proposed "quota" system (well done Dave!) doesn't mean that we would not accept genuine refugees. The proposal was that we would have to accept, willy-nilly, anyone sent on to us.
He may have a backbone but it is very limp and flexible
NJ ; //need only grant them a (say, French) pasport and, hey presto, the migrants have unfettred access to the entire EU.//
Yes, but not to the UK, only to the Schengen Area.
delighted
Anyone with any EU passport can legally come to Britain, Khandro. As I said, people who end up in Romania will collect their passport and hop on the next coach to the UK.
Is it that easy?

Look out you lot,,,,here I come!!
