If Governments do not ensure that their policies and processes adhere to the relevant legislation, who, other than judges, is to hold them to account?

I prefer to blame the Government.

It is better to stop illegal immigrants getting into the country in the first place.

The Government cut 5,000 Border Agency staff. And the problem got much worse.

The government got rid of the UK Border Agency back in 2013.

So now change the laws that the judges arent happy with and tell them to shove it and lets get all these filth out of our country...

And how's that working?

I blame successive governments (not just the present one). Judges interpret the law. Governments make the law.

The present government should frame and enact a law which enables them to undertake this "fast track" process (which is far from fast anyway) and to hold in detention those being processed until their cases are finalised. But they will also need to repeal the 1998 Human Rights Act and withdraw as signatories to the ECHR so as to avoid "incompatibility" challenges.

So no chance at all then and in the meantime the taxpayer will have to put up with countless new arrivals draining the country of its scarce resources.

Once an immigrant is accepted into the EU, they have free passage to whatever state they want to that is part of the Schengen treaty. The UK opted out, which is why they cannot just walk in.

Just like most civil service jobs they were greatly overstaffed.

We can no longer control our borders, because of our membership of the EU, if the whole of the population of Europe wanted to come to the UK, there is nothing to stop them.

Let's all throw our hands up into the air,abandon everything & allow our once great nation to be ruled from elsewhere ( anywhere except our own politicians who were elected by ourselves). It would appear that everything is rapidly going downhill.

No it's not. As I have said countless times the free rein that migrants have to roam across the EU is a consequence of the Schengen agreement. The Italians and the French could have opted out as did the UK. But they did not. Instead they chose to agree to a ridiculous arrangement which effectively puts the French border as far away as the southern coast of Spain and Portugal and the eastern borders of Finland and the Baltic States. Romania and Bulgaria, whilst not yet Schengen signatories, are duty bound to join, thus making France effectively a state bordering the Black Sea.

The five official candidate nations to join the EU (Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey) have no opt out from Schengen (or indeed the euro, just as a passing thought) and so their accession will make the continent’s plight infinitely worse.

The potential problems of Schengen which the continent is now experiencing were adequately highlighted before it was introduced. In the usual EU fashion they were swept aside from the altar of “ever closer union”. The mainland EU nations have only themselves to blame for the hordes of migrants roaming freely across the continent. They were warned, they ignored those warnings and the people of places like Calais are now reaping the rewards.

I really don’t know when the Euromaniacs are going to wake up to this utter lunacy.
