Yes he's quite right, and expressing a view that more and more MPs are finally coming to agree with.
On Libya, not only was it a grave mistake, but Gadhafi was paid to stop the flow of migrants from the Libyan shores.

I notice that our mikey is keeping well away from this.
When Mikey speaks,we listen as it's not the same old rhetoric wrapped up in a slightly different facade to invoke frothy mouthed anger and mass hysteria.
Os side stepping from the real issues at hand as some other users do who will remain anonymous at this time.
When mickey speaks we liste. PMSL.

Bro @ 1407,

What I can't understand is this AOG.

If that Farage is such a expert on issues and speaks so much sense, why he cannot get elected to Westminster.

I keep being told that UKIP got nearly 4 million votes a few weeks ago, and yet he still wasn't elected !

He has tried 7/8 times ( even Wiki can't be sure ) and he has failed every time. His face was hardly out of the headlines for months leading up to the Election on May. The Times even made him man of the Year in 2014, and yet he failed again to get a seat in Thanet.

Its a mystery and no mistake guvner !

No mystery he just gets bad press, and the public are ever so easily led, for fear of being labelled a racist, or a fascist.
mikey;//why he cannot get elected to Westminster.//
If we had a fairer electoral system he would.

Agree with that, Khandro.
Khandro....my point is that he at least should have been able to get himself a Westminster seat, by the same method that every other MP has.

MEP's are elected by some kind of PR, which is why UKIP is represented in Brussels in the first place. But we had an opportunity here in Britain, of changing to a kind of PR, and the public voted it down wholesale.

In May, Farage came close to winning, having 16,026 votes against the winning Tory candidates 18,838. I can say, without fear of contradiction that in this years Election, UKIP in general, and Farage in particular had the highest profile that they have ever had before. The winning candidate in Thanet South was somebody called Craig Mackinlay, who most people hadn't heard of before, and not many more people have heard of since. But still Farage couldn't make it. He has one of the most recognisable voices and faces of any British politician, and yet it still isn't enough.

He really should be able to get on the Westminster Gravy Train by his own efforts, and not have to rely on a serious and significant constitutional change.

Anyway, the only Parties that are going to win future elections are Labour and the Tories, and they can see no future or benefit in PR. Farage is stuck with playing the game to the same old rules.
The ballot boxes 'disappeared' for 6 hours in S.Thanet and nobody's saying how or where. Just saying.
mikey in Thanet the Tories launched the biggest campaign ever to ensure Farage didn't get elected. They threw the kitchen sink at it, Cameron himself and lots of big-guns were down there, and a host of volunteers were running the infirm to the polling stations - nothing illegal of course, but a sure sign that they were running very scared, why?
As to the referendum in 2010, it was a bad tempered affair with a purposely confusing question set up only to appease the Lib Dems.

Ludicrous nonsense every word
The reason 'proper' politicians don't write this sort of stuff is because they are comparatively sensible :-)
He's just using the horror of Tunisia as an excuse to promote his hobbyhorse that we can somehow raise a drawbridge and magically everything will be fine (last time I checked Tunisia was somewhere abroad)
This won't be a popular view here, and the issue of foreign migrants is of course deadly serious but until the issues which drive these mass movements of people across continents are addressed then we will be doomed to failure
'All they have to do is give them EU passports ...' he says referring to the Italian government. Why exactly would they do that??
// 'All they have to do is give them EU passports ...' he says referring to the Italian government. Why exactly would they do that?? // so that they can move them on from Italian territory.
Yeah, North to Calais mostly.
I don't think it's as easy as that. Don't they need to become Italian citizens first before getting Italian passports? That would seem an odd way of getting them to leave the country
ichkeria; Yes a good point, there's quite a bit of general info. here;

A member state handing out EU passports willy-nilly, isn't an option, even by their own standards.
